CNC Machined in the USA  |  6061 Billet Aluminum  |  Complete Hardware Kit Included

The 409 didn't just make horsepower — it made history. From the drag strips of the early '60s to the Beach Boys putting its name in a song, the Chevrolet 409 earned a reputation that no other W-series engine has matched. If you've got one, built around one, or just respect what it represents, this badge was made for your engine bay.

Mad4Metal's Nasty 409 by Chevrolet badge is precision CNC machined from 6061 aircraft-grade billet aluminum right here in our Idaho shop. The engraved graphic is loaded with character: NASTY 409 arcs across the top, a detailed engine block illustration dominates the center, and by CHEVROLET closes it out across the bottom — all cut deep into solid metal on our CNC equipment. Not stamped. Not cast. Not a sticker. Machined.

Polished to a mirror finish, this badge throws light the way only real machined aluminum can. Mount it on the valve cover and it tells the whole story before anyone even opens their mouth.

About the Finish — What "Polished" Means on a CNC Machined Badge

These badges are polished to a mirror finish, but the machining marks from the CNC cutting process remain visible — and that's completely intentional. This is what separates a real machined aluminum part from a cast or injection-molded badge. The toolpath marks catch and reflect light at slightly different angles across the face, giving the badge that unmistakable billet look you see on high-end valve covers, billet intakes, and precision CNC accessories.

A perfectly smooth, mark-free polish would make the badge look like painted plastic. The machining marks are the signature of the process — they're what tell everyone who looks at it that this was cut from solid metal on a real CNC machine, not poured into a mold and buffed out. If you want the badge to look its best, a quick wipe with aluminum polish will bring the high spots up to a brilliant shine while leaving the character of the machining intact.

Where Can You Run It?

This graphic has too much personality to hide. Put it anywhere you want the 409 story front and center:

  • Valve covers — polished aluminum pops against black wrinkle, chrome, or natural aluminum fins
  • Engine fenders / inner fenders — badge the whole bay, not just the covers
  • Hood underside — the detail that gets its own conversation at every show
  • Firewall — center it up and it becomes the focal point of the engine compartment
  • Dashboard or interior panels — bring the attitude inside the cabin
  • Glove box door — subtle but unmistakable to anyone who knows Chevy
  • Toolbox lid — because the tools working on a 409 deserve a badge that says so
  • Garage wall, pegboard, or man cave display — it earns a permanent spot on the wall
  • Car trailer or hauler — let every driver on the highway know what's inside

Why Machined Aluminum Beats Everything Else

Cast badges crack under hood heat cycles. Plastic emblems fade and chalk out in UV. Stick-on badges peel off at the first car wash. Machined aluminum from 6061-T6 billet is the same material used in aircraft structural components — it doesn't rust, doesn't corrode, and polishes back to a mirror finish with any standard aluminum polish if it ever picks up grease or fingerprints.

The machined surface marks in the finish aren't defects. They're the signature of a real CNC-cut part — the same aesthetic you see on billet valve covers, billet intake spacers, and billet accessories on serious Chevrolet builds. The 409 was built without compromise. This badge is too.
